Healing for Haiti

Bonjour mes amis! Thanks for taking time to read this. I'm excited to share that in 1.5 weeks, I'll be going to Haiti on a week-long medical mission to volunteer my physical therapy services. As you know, Hurricane Matthew pillaged Haiti just last week, bringing further destruction to a country that still hadn't recovered from the 2010 earthquake, when over 200,000 died and thousands of survivors underwent limb amputations.
The non-profit group running the trip (Phoenix Rising for Haiti) assured me that the north, where we'll be working, was largely spared from significant damage. The locals still need healthcare, perhaps now more than ever, and apparently are eagerly awaiting our arrival. No doubt I have concerns about going right now, given Zika, the resurging cholera crisis, and a new food shortage too. But I'm also excited to help people who have zero access to quality care, so it seems there's no time like the present!
Very last minute, I've decided to fundraise because in addition to using my vacation time, this working trip will cost me almost $2,000. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help offset the cost of my flight, the hefty donation volunteers are asked to make, and extra costs for every day drug store items that we are asked to bring with us. I'm told the more over-the-counter medication, clothing, and sneakers we can bring down to give to Haitians, the better. All money goes directly toward the cost of running the clinic and supporting locals in need, and no person or organization profits financially.
If you've ever wanted to volunteer for or donate to a worthy cause but were unable to find the right time or opportunity, I hope you'll consider supporting me in this effort. Haiti needs all the help and healing we can give.
Please feel free to share with others, and get in touch with me if you have any questions - I'll be happy to answer them!
