My name is Sparklyn Jade Logan-McGrath and I am creating this on behalf of my best friend and her 2 amazing children. This is Amie's story... Amie has dedicated every inch of her soul into raising her 2 sons and being the best damn single mother she could be. In 2010, a previous employer brought a charge against Amie claiming she owed the company upward of $10,000; against her better judgement, under the advisement of her attorney, she plead guilty and accepted responsibility of repayment in the form of restitution so as to avoid ANY POSSIBILITY of jail time, as she is the sole provider for and caretaker of 2 young boys. On August 26th, Amie presented in front of a judge in order to explain why she had not been paying her restitution and to explain that she had lost her job and was desperately searching for a new one --- She was not afforded that opportunity. The judge ordered Amie to be immediately taken into custody and transported to Cook County jail without bond. She was ordered to sit behind these bars until October 7th, where in which the judge was to sentence her; on that Friday morning she was taken via Cook County bus to Rolling Meadows courthouse. After pleading for leniancy and having letters from her friends, family, and sons read aloud in court, the judge granted her ONE CHANCE to repay her restitution in full and have her case closed for good, or (if even a penny short) be sentenced 3 to 7 years in prison and as a result have her children taken away. The judge is giving until November 4, 2016 for the restitution to be paid. There's only one catch - SHE IS TO REMAIN BEHIND BARS UNTIL THEN. Dylan, who just turned 13 this year, was formally diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3. Vinnie turned 11 last month right after Amie was incarcerated; this was probably the most devastating moment of Vinnie’s life. Amie has never missed anything with those boys, not a conference, an IEP meeting, a football practice, a game – let alone a birthday. Amie has DEDICATED her life into giving those boys the best life that she could, on her own, without the support of their dad or any family. It breaks my heart to see how quickly Dylan is regressing without his mother around. She constantly works with Dylan and has made it her purpose to provide him with the most loving, supportive, and encouraging environment possible. As a child Dylan was incredibly aggressive, violent, anti-social – Amie never gave up. Prior to this incarceration, both children were straight A students, excelling in both school and football. Without Amie around, those boys are completely lost. Dylan has been acting out at both school and home, his grades have suffered significantly, and he has since been benched on the elite traveling football squad that he was specially elected to be on this year. Vinnie, who has never struggled with regard to academics and social interaction, is not only experiencing a severe drop in grades but he has also completely withdrawn himself from engaging in all social activity. IT IS MY GOAL TO GET THIS RESTITUTION PAID AND GET AMIE BACK HOME TO HER BABIES!!!! PLEASE FIND IT IN YOUR HEART TO HELP REUNITE THIS WOMAN AND HER CHILDREN. Amie never gave up, and I refuse to not do everything in my power to fight for her and her children. Please join me in my fight! This is a cruel and unjust system that could allow for a mother to loose her children and face imprisonment because of missing restitution payments, yet there are murderers and rapists walking among us daily. Amie has never asked for help nor needed it - she was always the giver, never the taker. The time to help is NOW! Please join me in my fight to save her family and rise above the unjust and cruel sentence of not only imprisonment, but also having her children be ripped from the only loving arms they have ever known. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. EVERY PENNY COUNTS. I cannot thank you enough (in advance) for your help and generosity.
