Those who know me know that to write this I have exhausted every resource and found no other way. I know there are many people struggling and in need. My family and I are used to being the ones to lend a helping hand, but unfortunately we now find ourselves in the position of needing one of our own. I write this on behalf of my nephew who asks me every time we speak...”Auntie, when am I coming to live with you?”. More than a year ago we lost my dear sister to HIV. She left behind my nephew. Like so many she had not anticipated succumbing to this illness and left nothing in place as to his care. She had not attained citizenship in England where they resided. My nephew was sent to live with my mother in Zimbabwe, since there was no one else there willing to take on his care. With my mother not in the best health and finances limited my family began the process of adopting him in March of 2014. We anticipated there would be some cost involved with the adoption, but had not foreseen just how staggering the expenses would be nor the legalities involved. It has been much more than our family can bear with two children in college and another in elementary school. So it is with a heavy heart that I turn to you on behalf of my nephew with his words ringing in my ears to lend a hand to help bring him home before school starts in September 2015
