THE STORY:

YOU ARE MAKING THIS HAPPEN! We are so excited to announce we are in the final stages of BRINGING HOME THE ADAMS!

For the last seven years, the Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association (JHNSA) has worked tirelessly to bring the former USS CHARLES F. ADAMS (DDG-2) back to Jacksonville as Florida’s first naval ship museum. The ADAMS played a key role in our Navy’s history and was stationed in Mayport, Florida for 21 of her 30 years of service life. This ship deserves to come home and share her historic legacy with the City of Jacksonville and thousands of tourists that visit our city each year.

This museum will be a fitting memorial to honor all veterans, especially the Sailors who served on this special class of warship. She will also be an interactive museum stationed at the Jacksonville Downtown Shipyards that will bring history alive to all who visit. We are dedicated to educating our youth about STEM careers, enriching our community, and becoming a landmark of this great city which will contribute to the economic growth of Downtown Jacksonville.

THANK YOU for all of your support thus far as all funds to date have been privately raised. We could not do this without you! Your individual donations and teams have contributed largely to the success we have achieved thus far. Thank you so much for participating in our online fundraiser on Crowdrise!

The USS CHARLES F. ADAMS (DDG-2) is projected to arrive in Jacksonville in early 2016 and The USS ADAMS Museum to open later that year. While we are moving forward in our plans, we ask our supporters to help us engage their community to secure sponsors and partners to catapult The USS ADAMS Museum into full operation. We must continue to move forward in our efforts and raise the funds needed to see our project come to fruition.

PLEASE HELP us raise the needed funds to cover our operating and staff costs, so we can bring this important piece of history back to Jacksonville and share this historic ship with our community and generations to come! We encourage you to reach out to your friends, family, and colleges to raise additional funds.

The USS ADAMS wants to keep you engaged! Please let us know if we can provide you with any materials or information to assist you in raising funds for the USS ADAMS Museum. There are also opportunities for you to join our crew as a volunteer for our upcoming events and projects. Please contact our online Fundraising Specialist, Ashley Avery at jointhecrew@ussadams.com to learn more about how you can help us TODAY!
