Everyone deserves the chance to spend a day at the beach! But for people like my daughter, Jessi, who is confined to a wheelchair, visiting a beach and getting into the water not an easy thing to do. I am working with SMILE Mass to change that. We are working together to bring floating beach wheelchairs to Canada - starting with the Niagra Region! This all started when we found out Jessi couldn't attend the sleep away camp that Jessi was so looking forward to all summer. But, two and a half weeks before Jessi was to attend, we got the news that they couldn't accommodate all of Jessi's needs. To read the full story, go to http://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/2016/08/11/teen-with-arthritis-has-camp-hopes-dashed I wasn't going to sit around and do nothing. I needed to take some action! I wanted to do something to help make the world more accessible for Jessi and others like her. I want to help make a world where we all belong, despite disability! I contacted SMILE Mass and learned about their beach wheelchair program in Massachusetts. I am now working with them to bring a similar program to Canada - starting with the Niagara Region! Any donation made on this safe and secure page, will go directly towards creating a beach wheelchair program in the Niagara Region. My goal is to get 10 Floating Beach Wheelchairs and accessible mats to make 10 of our beaches accessible to all. Once that goal is reached - we find another region to help! Help me make a day at the beach accessible for Jessi! Help me make a day at the beach accessible to everyone, despite disability.
