Bringing Tech Opportunity to Underprivileged School
Organized by: Denis Ohlstrom
My name is Denis Ohlstrom and I am a science teacher at Carmel Middle School in Colorado Springs. My students (shown in the pictures) and I are trying to raise money to bring the technology that will shape the future of education to Carmel Middle School so we can develop educational apps for the Microsoft Hololens.
My class recently applied for, and got approved to bring a development kit of the Microsoft Hololens to CMS. As a result we are starting a program here that will allow students to learn how to code for this new technology with the end goal of developing programs that could be used in educational settings. Unfortunately, because we are a Title 1 school we do not have the funding to purchase the device, or the Surface Pro that we would use to program it. The opportunity to be at the ground floor of developing educational apps for this incredible technology would be a life-shaping experience for these young students.
If supported, this fundraiser would be used to purchase a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 for use in the classroom to teach students how to program for the Microsoft Holo Lens and then begin programming new apps themselves for this revolutionary technology. Having the application accepted by Microsoft was an incredibly transformational moment for my students. They saw that even at a school that everyone calls "ghetto", if you want something bad enough and are willing to work for it you can make it happen.
Please help us get the technology we need to get this program off the ground. Any donation is greatly appreciated, and we are incredibly thankful for your support.
