BENEFITING: Vasculitis Foundation
OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDING FOR RESEARCH TOWARDS BETTER TREATMENTS AND HOPEFULLY A CURE. Kristalyn Louise Warren Mumaw is a long time friend of mine and now the love of my life. I have to start at the beginning... We met nearly thirty years ago. Just acquaintances through a mutual friend. We saw each other a handful of times but went our separate ways in life. We were never an item or desired to be such. As luck would have it we reconnected on Facebook but only in a "Facebook friend" kind of way. We both lived in different cities but we had a way now to talk if we so desired. Much time went by and we never really talked or anything and I believe she sent me a message via Facebook just saying HI and wishing me well and was happy to see where I had gotten in my life. I essentially did the same and that was that. Then in or around November or December we started to message more frequently. January rolled around and I had a business trip in her area and asked her if she would like to meet me for dinner.. We met for dinner on January 19th at Maggianos at the Perimeter Mall in Atlanta (Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area). She brought her 2 beautiful children with and we had a wonderful dinner. I said bye and I would talk to her again soon. Two days later it was her birthday. She turned 41 years old. She doesn't look a day over 30 though. Then within a week of her birthday she was rushed to the ER for internal bleeding/pain. The picture for this page is from her first visit. Things got really bad for her with the internal bleeding and pain. She went through many many tough moments and literally was in the fight of her life. On February 8th, I got in my car and drove to be with her after a very tough 48 hours of her sickness. Since that first visit to her home we have not been apart except for my work travel. On February 18th, I made her dinner. I called it our "first date" because she had literally been stuck in her bed or a hospital for a month straight. We became even closer and eventually fell in love. She is the strongest, bravest, warrior and princess I know. Not to mention she is incredibly smart and business savvy. Everyone that meets her calls her a friend. Her charm is immeasurable. Her laughter is contagious. Her eyes are the perfect shade of blue and her smile can melt frozen chocolate. She is a gracious and tender person that does so much for her children. She loves me without end and supports me as a man and father. We are still building our life and memories but now we are doing it with the terrible disease reminding us daily how blessed we are and have been in our lives. I love you Kristalyn.
