Bringing the Holidays to Deployed Troops
Organized by: Gary Boltz
Being a veteran myself, I know from personal experience being deployed during the holidays isn't easy. But I did love being able to go and open a package from my family and friends. Even receiving a letter was a great feeling; just knowing someone was thinking about you while you were gone. Then there were the soldiers that weren't as lucky as some. Soldiers that didn't have family, or the family couldn't afford it, or their friends weren't as thoughtful in sending something overseas (which isn't cheap). These people are also the ones that take the most risks, and think of suicide often. Why live when there is no one there to support you in your fight for freedom? And these are the soldiers I would like to send gifts to, whether they end up being big or small gifts. Let someone know you are thinking of them during the holidays and possibly save a life. I'm hoping to make enough packages to send to a deployed location for at least 100 people with things such as: gift cards, food, current news, cds, current movies or whatever can be raised. So please help however you can and I'll be sure to let the Soldier, Airman, Marine, or Seaman that receives a package, that you care and we are there for them.
