BENEFITING: TUALATIN VALLEY ACADEMY
Kids can do amazing things. Several years ago Tualatin Valley Academy had a handbell choir, Ring of Fire, made up of 7th-10th grade students that traveled the world. The kids learned much about music, teamwork and how to accomplish what many considered impossible.
Tualatin Valley Academy has been without the bell choir for 10 years now, and they want to bring it back. Michael Blackburn, a member of the first Ring of Fire choir, has volunteered his time and energy to teach the kids how to play handbells at Ring of Fire's level.
Help us teach the next generation of kids about teamwork, hard work, music and performance!
What do we need to bring the bells back?
Equipment. Ring of Fire traveled so extensively that much of the equipment is in need of replacement. This year we are hoping to replace the tables, pad covers and bell cases. If we raise above our goal, we will look at getting the bells professionally serviced and get some additional equipment.
Funding for student needs. We want for finances to never be a barrier for a student in the bell choir. Ideally we'd like to subsidize their uniforms, travel costs, etc.
