“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
Running is one of the things that truly makes me come alive. That’s why I spend so many hours on my feet, exploring trails and consequently, the limits of my human potential. I was selected to be part of a team of 40 runners who will come together for a week in February 2018 to run 230 miles across Haiti, from the north to the south of the country. This ultramarathon allows me to put one of my deepest joys to work for something beyond myself. Through this crazy adventure, I can use my athletic gifts to help contribute to two important things:
1) To show that Haiti is beautiful – not a place to be feared or pitied;
2) To raise money that will directly support access to good, dignified jobs.
Poverty does not have to be permanent, and everyone in this world deserves the choice to find purpose through work.
I humbly request your support on this wild journey, and I promise to do what I can to share stories about a place that too many people get wrong and to always pursue a deeper understanding of our collective humanity. 100% of the funds raised through these campaigns will go directly back into the Haitian economy or to the families that work closely with the organization that’s making this happen: Work.
