Children's Bureau's Team all4kids is running the 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend to give every child the chance at becoming a happy and productive adult. Giving through our fundraising page means giving children a second chance. Every year over 220,000 children are abused and neglected in Los Angeles and Orange counties. And that's just what is reported. Children's Bureau works to PREVENT abuse and neglect from ever happening in the first place. When that isn't possible, Children's Bureau offers treatment services, foster care, and adoption.
I, as a survivor of childhood abuse and neglect, find this cause very dear to my heart and I was stoked to have the opportunity to join Team all4kids. Disneyland is my favorite place on earth and anything Disney brings me happiness. Disney taught me that no matter where we come from, we can dream and those dreams can come true (if we have the courage to pursue them). I can't be more thrilled to run this run for this specific team at Disneyland. This run is a personal triumph for me. This will be my first long distance run, but the idea of helping kids get through what I went through or not having to go through it at all, is enough motivation to make this journey worthwhile. I will never forget this experience and I will never take this opportunity for granted. I can 'Go the Distance'!
