BENEFITING: Food Bank of Lincoln
EVENT DATE: May 04, 2014
On Sunday May 4th, I'll be running the Lincoln Half Marathon. I decided this is a great time to try to make a positive impact towards my commmunity. I choose the Food Bank of Lincoln as no one should have to go hungry. One neat thing they do is the weekend backpack program which helps children have food on the weekends that might normally miss a meal or more without it. We have been helping with this program recently at my church and I think it's a great program that is helping make a difference. I'll be running 13.1 miles and my goal is to get at least 10 people to donate $1 per mile ($13.) $100 covers a student who needs the backpack program for half a year and I'd like to raise more than that if possible.
Update 5/1/14: Because of your amazing support we hit the first goal! I'm going to update the goal to $200 as that will cover the backpack program for one student for a whole year! Thank you everyone so much for your support.
Update 5/9/14: You went above and beyond, thank you so much. The half marathon was a very positive experience. My time was close to my goal. I has some pain and some cramping but I finished. I love the support from the city and my family and friends cheering me and other along during the run. Lincoln does a great job putting on the marathon so I'm glad we were able to give back to the city by donating to the food bank.
