BENEFITING: The ALS Association
EVENT DATE: Sep 17, 2014
As many of you may have witnessed in the recent months the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has taken off on social media. For those of you unaware of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, it is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on your head or someone else’s head to promote awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and encourage donations to research.
It went viral on social media during July – August 2014. In the U.S., many people participate for the ALS Association, and in the U.K. many people participate for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Still, others opt to donate their money from the Ice Bucket Challenge to other organizations, as well.
The Brookfield GRS Burr Ridge office will be taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on Wednesday, September 17. I am challenging all of you to do the same! This challenge is dedicated to Sally Patterson, the former Brookfield GRS Director of Marketing, and all Brookfield GRS families and friends who have been affected by this horrible disease.
Since the Ice Bucket Challenge began, ALS (www.alsa.org) has raised over $111 million for research. I would love to see as many of our global offices participate in this charitable and fun happening!
