THE STORY:

Brookline Rotary wrote -

Why?

For millions of people throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America, getting clean water is a daily struggle.  In fact, more than 80% of all sickness in the world is attributed to unsafe water.  Nearly 1 billion people are without access to improved water sources and every 8 seconds, a child dies because of this crisis.  We are looking to have as many walkers as possible help us share our message, and raise funds to do something about it. We ask all walkers to pledge to raise a minimum of $200. Thie acres to water we take for granted in the United States, is the difference between life and death for much of the rest of the world.

What?

A 5k Educational Fun Walk for a serious cause.

Figure if I don't support myself, why would anybody else. I remember how good it felt to get a card in the mail from the Brookline Foundation when someone made a donation in my name. Not only will I donate, I am going to send myself an Ecard, thanking me! Hope to see lots of friends and family on October 20, my Mom's birthday. This is a golden opportunity to help families worldwide with something we have we have in Brookline that is so good, and a necessity to our health. "Water" We can turn on a faucet, take a drink, its easy. Now we have the opportunity to make a difference globally and help other countries get a step closer to what we get to take for granted everyday. We are very lucky, and I am grateful. This is a way to show it!! Thank you to all of my fellow rotarians that are helping this happen. I am grateful to be a part Brookline Rotary. Amy Clark 6 years ago
