"One death is a tragedy. A million deaths is a statistic."
--Joseph Stalin

There is an insidious fear in this quote, because I know how truly it strikes into my own heart. Have you ever wondered what difference your money makes to the statistics of human suffering? I have. What can $250 dollars do to the multi-billion dollar industry of the buying and selling of our fellow human beings?

My school was recently visited by a guest speaker from Rahab's Rope, an organization that focuses on helping victim's of sex slavery to build a life for themselves and their own children. Many of these prostitutes are 12-14 years old. You can investigate their mission here ( In one of my classes, we have begun a mission to raise $500 to go to one specific child to help fund their future. To be honest, we have not yet reached the most difficult part: once the money is raised, we have to choose one of three children we are going to help. For example, it could be the son of one of the teens who was impregnated "at work." And this is the part we need your help.

I have given 100 dollars to this child, and I know it will make very little difference to the STATISTICS of commercial sex.

But together we can reach our goal of raising $500--so far, we have $271--and my teacher will match our donations. Right now (271 x 2 = 542), we have enough money to give a future to someone. But I cannot let it stop there; if I can raise $479 dollars, that will bring the total to $750, which will be matched by my generous teacher, bringing the grand total to $1,500. It will make no difference to the sex slave industry--but I KNOW that we can make a difference in the TRAGEDY of all three children.

Yours faithfully,

B.P. Hall

P.S. I will try to get the names and photos of the children we help!
