Megan Farrell wrote -Leave Out Violence (LOVE) was created to reduce and help eliminate violence in the lives of youth and our communities by initiating a movement of youth spokespeople who communicate a message of non-violence. LOVE youth have all been victims, witnesses, and/or perpetrators of violence. They are a diverse group with distinct voices. Their lives have been shaped by bullying and fighting, assaults in their communities, gang recruitment, self harm, attempted suicide, domestic violence and dating violence. Many live in predominantly low-income communities across NYC’s five boroughs. At LOVE U.S., youth use media arts to process their negative experiences and reach their full potential. We provide expert guidance, a safe and supportive environment, and leadership opportunities. Youth do the rest, through LOVE Youth… Build their conflict-resolution skills Learn creative self-expression Develop into peer leaders Become vocal advocates of non-violence Transform their outlook of themselves, society and the future.
