I am a Pastor at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, by Wausau West High School. I grew up in Kaukauna, WI and graduated from U.W. Madison with an English Degree before attending Seminary in St. Louis, MO. I live in Rib Mountain with my wife Mary Jo Johnson and my family includes 1 married daughter, Sarah who is in Medical School, another daughter Christine who is Vet School, and through marriage gained a daughter Shelby who attends Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School, and a son Johnny who attends Concordia University of Wisconsin. We have 2 adopted cats from the humane society, Princess Fiona & Shrek, as well as an adorable dog named Pipsqueak. When I’m not serving the Lord at church or learning new dance moves on the floor, I enjoy hunting, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling, softball, and playing the guitar. In the community I have sung in the Wausau Lyric Choir for the past 4 years and I participate in leading nursing home services on a regular basis.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Dancing for the Paws event to help raise funds for our furry friends at the Marathon County Human Society. My wife and I attended last year’s inaugural event and at her encouragement and the sponsorship of EO Johnson Business Technologies, I decided to join the competition. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the humane society because I have adopted pets in the past and have taken my kids there when they were young, to visit all the animals. My wife loves to dance, so this also gives me the opportunity to develop a hobby which we can enjoy together in the future while also bringing back fond memories of my disco dancing days in the past.
The awesome team at Get Out And Dance of Tom, Matt & Heather have been very supportive. I enjoy the playful spirit that they exhibit at lessons and I especially thank my professional dance partner, Heather Wudstrack for being so positive and encouraging. Being competitive in nature I look forward to the opportunity to strut my stuff as we compete for the mirror ball and raise funds for this worthwhile community cause.
