Brussels Educational Trip for Best Student Essays
Organized by: Ben Sollenberger
I am organizing an essay contest for students at my university in Turkey. The contest is deigned to prompt new interest and ideas regarding the critical yet stagnating relationship between the European Union and Turkey. The 5 best essay writers will enter a work-shop seminar to refine, edit, and ready their papers for publishing as an op-ed in a newspaper or other publication.
To complement the seminar, the winners will also receive air-fare to and from Brussels, stay in modest hotel rooms, and a reasonable stipend for food and other expenses. During the 5 day educational program participants will meet with members from Turkish-EU centered NGO’s as well as professors from local universities; learn more about E.U and tour facilities; and much more.
This is where I and they need your help. Many bright and curious students at the university have had limited opportunities to travel abroad for financial or other reasons. A donation -- of any denomination -- would grant hard-working students the opportunity to explore this curiosity and gain invaluable international experience, connections, and perspective. This would also fulfill my personal and Fulbright grant goal of fostering mutual understanding between Turkish and European peoples.
I speak with sincerity and certainty that I will work tirelessly to make this program a highly-meaningful and rewarding program for these deserving participants. If you donate, I will not let you nor the students down.
Thank you so much,
