The Opioid Epidemic is devastating American families and communities. Over 47,000 people died last year from drug overdose and more than half of them are opoioid overdose deaths. Studies indicate that many people who die from opioid overdose failed to receive proper medical attention. While not all opioid overdoses are fatal, the provision of Naloxone by laypeople to an overdosing person who would otherwise not receive medical intervention saves hundres of lives each year. Additionally, timely provision of Naloxone may help reduce some of the morbidities (i.e. medical complications or conditions) associated with non-fatal overdose. Witnesses who are able to perform rescue breathing and administer Naloxone to an overdosing person experiencing respiratory depression will likely prevent brain damage and other harms.
Since January 2015 we have put over 250 kits into the hands of families and friends in south east Michigan that love someone who is at high risk for an opioid overdose for free. (The kits cost us approximately $30 each to prepare) 7 of those kits have been used to successfully reverse an opioid overdose of someone who otherwise would likely have died ~ PRICELESS ~ www.bryanshope.org ~ HELP us SAVE a LIFE $30 ~
