BENEFITING: FRIENDS OF THE SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT
After hearing continued reports about the worsening condition of Bryan Stow (a San Francisco Giant fan who was violently beaten after a game at Dodger Stadium leaving him permanently with brain damage), I wanted someway to help him. I do not know him personally, but I feel for him and his family (he has two young boys), as they try to cope with this tragedy.
No one should have to be subjected to physical or mental violence at a sporting event, whether a rivalry or not. There is a way to be friendly and funny about cheering or cheering against fans of another team.
What these two young men did was cowardly, irresponsible and goes against the social fabric of what both the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers view as moral. The fan bases from both cities have been explicit that this type of behavior is not acceptable.
If you have some money to spare, please consider donating here, through this Crowdrise portal. I fully intend to coordinate that this money makes its way to the Bryan Stowe Fund as part of the San Francisco Police Credit Union, which is mentioned in this article below:
