Running has been part of my life for more than 20 years. My first road race was in 4th grade where I ran a one mile race and finished at the top of my age group, winning my first award. As I finished elementary school and entered jr. high and high school, I did more and more road races and then was on the cross country and track teams. Some of my greatest memories of high school are of adventures in cross country and track.
During college I became more of a recreational runner, running for enjoyment. Towards the end of my 2nd year, my roommate talked me into running cross country in the upcoming fall season. After a season on the team, I went back to running for my enjoyment. It was during these college years that I got the itch to run a marathon and in 2003 that itch became a reality when I ran the Mad-City Marathon in Madison, WI. Since then, I have run 4 others and am looking forward to running my 6th marathon with Steps this October.
This will be my first time running for someone other than myself. Running has always been something I did for my own benefit and enjoyment. But after much time in prayer, I decided to run with/for Steps. Being in ministry for many years and learning about the Halls and the organizations Steps is working with, I decided I couldn’t go wrong with supporting those who share the Gospel and their gifts and talents with kids. It is wonderful to be a part of something bigger than myself and giving back through a great organization like the Hall Steps Foundation.
Besides running, I also love to downhill and water ski, bike, play with my dog Coach and go on adventures with my best friend, Olivia. Olivia is also my biggest supporter and fan; I can’t imagine doing a marathon without her there supporting me. We love traveling together and sharing our lives with students.
