BENEFITING: Breakthrough Greater Boston
Breakthrough Greater Boston transforms urban education for students and teachers in Cambridge and Boston Public Schools. Through six years of intensive, out of school time (OST) programming, Breakthrough changes students’ academic trajectories and supports them along the path to four-year college. Breakthrough’s unique Students Teaching Students model provides college students with the opportunity to share their love of learning and positively impact the lives of their students. You can learn more about the program at breakthroughgreaterboston.org.
Every year there is a six-week Summer Program that introduces students to new topics in Literature, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Writing. In order to combat summer learning loss, classes are rigorous and engaging. Teachers create exciting classes and offer students a great deal of support on all assignments. This year we are raising money to help Breakthrough Greater Boston provide the necessary books and program supplies for their classes.
This summer 7th grade students will read The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, 8th grade students will read A Raisin in the Sun, and 9th grade students will read both A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Othello. Every day students will use supplies like paint brushes, construction paper, and poster boards. Give the gift of education to our students by donating to our Book and Program Supplies Drive!
