This summer, Beit T'Shuvah is sending 12 young adults to Israel on the Taglit-Birthright Israel program.
Taglit-Birthright Israel is a trip designed to provide Jews between the ages of 18 and 26 who have never been to Israel with their first trip to the Jewish homeland at no expense to the participants.
With the legal drinking age in Israel set at 18, many American Jews associate Birthright with inebriation. The sober Jewish alcoholic, often overlooked, needs a chance to experience the Holy Land without fearing relapse.
Birthright has put together a specially designated sober trip for sober Jews. If a free trip to Israel was not rare enough itself, the chance to do it sober may actually come around only once in a lifetime.
Taglit-Birthright Israel provides free room, board, tour, etc. while in Israel, as well as compensated group flights to Tel-Aviv—from JFK Airport in New York. Beit T'Shuvah is in Los Angeles.
We need to fly our 12 Israeli adventurers from Los Angeles to New York so they can catch their flight to Tel-Aviv.
The trip leaves June 4th, 2012. Each flight from LA to NYC costs $500 a person. Therefore, we must raise $6000 by June 3rd, 2012!
About Beit T'Shuvah:
Beit T’Shuvah is a unique healing spiritual community that assists individuals and families seeking recovery from and prevention of addictive and behavioral disorders. Our vision is to reduce the incidence of addiction and other harmful behaviors through individual and family education. The Beit T'Shuvah campus is located in West Los Angeles. The facility is a warm, comfortable setting where approximately 120 residents interact with clinical staff in a healing atmosphere that emphasizes faith-based recovery and the values of the Jewish community. We provide the tools to find a happier, more balanced life, including the following comprehensive integrated programs: 12 Step Program, Psychotherapy, Creative Arts Therapies, Meditation Practice, Mind-Body Fitness, Career Development, and Jewish Study. Beit T’Shuvah offers services to people regardless of their ability to pay. We have never turned anyone away due to lack of funds. For more information visit www.beittshuvah.org
