BENEFITING: BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: May 09, 2014
On May 9, 2014, I turn 23 years old. This year for my birthday I would love to raise $500.00 for the Born This Way Foundation's Born Brave Bus Tour. If you are not familiar with the foundation or bus tour, here's part of their mission:
"Led by Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta, the Born This Way Foundation was founded in 2011 to foster a more accepting society, where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated. The Foundation is dedicated to creating a safe community that helps connect young people with the skills and opportunities they need to build a kinder, braver world.
We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, to be empowered and to make a difference in the world. Together, we will move towards acceptance, bravery and love." You can also go to the foundation's website at http://bit.ly/1j3GDjj.
I care deeply about the BTWF. Last spring, I volunteered at the BTWF Bus Stop in Chicago with my alma mater's pride organization. We encountered with youth and adults from all over Chicagoland, state of Illinois, as well as other states and countries. At the bus stop, I discussed and helped pass out documents regarding other supporting organizations to how to promote acceptance, bravery, and love. Secondly, I also visited the BTWF Bus Stop in Las Vegas during January of 2013 when Lady Gaga performed at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. I learned a great amount of information on how the foundation is reaching out to individuals all over the world.
The impact of the BTWF's Born Brave Bus tour 2013:
- 23 events in 18 cities.
- Over 20,000 people experienced the tour in person.
- 80% of participants would recommend the experience to others.
- Several local and national partners who have helped create the Born Brave Bus tour and who will continue to help us all build a kinder, braver world. Those partners are: MacArthur Foundation, The California Endowment, Viacom, Mozilla, Campus Pride, GLSEN, Mentoring USA, National Council for Behavioral Health, National Association of School Psychologists, Mentor - National Mentoring Partnership, The Trevor Project, Youth Service America, HIVE, and YOUmedia (source BTWF website - http://bit.ly/QfZ5LJ).
Please help me reach $50.00 by May 9, 2014 so we can give a great gift to the BTWF for my birthday. Thank you!
