Stacey, my best friend of 14 years, is the strongest person I know. Through all the adversity she has faced, she remains kind and continues to have an optimistic outlook on life.
Stacey was diagnosed with breast cancer right before her 25th birthday. She fought it and was in remission until a little over 2 years ago when she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. It had spread to her liver, bones, lungs and more recently her brain. Now, at 34 and 2 years into chemo that is not working and hindering her quality of life - she has decided that she wants to stop chemo and start her bucket list. Her doctor gave her 6 months to live and I want to do everything I can to help her achieve her final wishes.
Bucket List Item #1 - Go to a Philadelphia Eagles game in Philly (Oct. 23rd)
An avid and loyal sports fan, Stacey has been an Eagles fan as long as I can remember. I know it's weird that a girl from Oregon would love the Eagles, but there is not an NFL team in her state. Whenever someone asks how she became a fan of a team on the other side of the country she replies, "Madden." She liked the Eagles style when playing the video game so she decided to watch them in real life. She fell in love with the history, the team, the fans and how fearsome they are. She knows all of the players' names, jersey numbers and stats which blows many people away.
The tickets for seats to the October 23rd game cost a minimum of $100 each and ones that are accessible (she can't walk far and may even need a wheelchair) cost even more. For part of her bucket list, Stacey wants to roadtrip across the country - so if her health permits we would be driving to Philly for the game. Ideally, I would like to put her up in a decent hotel with easy access to Lincoln Financial Field. I figure bare bones it would cost around $1500 to make this happen, which might not seem like a lot for some. I'm barely scraping by and I'm worried that I cannot save enough money in time.
Currently, I am looking for a second job, but I thought I might put this message out into the world in hopes that someone would be able to help make this dream come true sooner for Stacey rather than later. Later might be too late.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If there is any more information I can provide, don't hesitate to ask. If you can help at all she and I would be so grateful.
