The Story

EVENT DATE: Sep 16, 2017

A REASON TO GIVE

While most of us were excited when we approached high school graduation and looked to the future full of possibility, young people with disabilities “age out of the system” and suddenly find themselves without the support, programming, and services they received during their school years.

BUDDY WALK® at the BEACH: September 16, 2017

This year’s 13th annual Buddy Walk at the Beach will continue to support Sammy’s Place’s efforts to establish a much needed business model for an outdoor community with living and working opportunities for adults experiencing disability. The walk will continue to promote awareness of people with disabilities and the Sammy’s Place vision.

We have set our fundraising goal at $24,000 this year.  2017's funds will be used to hire Sammy's Place's first part-time staff to implement and move the 2016 strategic plan goals and objectives forward.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
To date, the Buddy Walk at the Beach has raised nearly $60,000 from nearly 500 supporters such as you. Thank You!  Most of the funds have been saved for land procurement. In 2016 about $5000 were used to begin the tasks outlined in the 2016 strategic plan, which barely began to scratch the surface in terms of what needs to be accomplished. See 2016 Strategic Plan Here.

There is still much work to be done, awareness to be shared, and celebrations to have. Your 2017 Buddy Walk at the Beach donation and/or registration will continue to support our efforts over the next year to move forward and produce the first Sammy’s Place nature-based programs for adults with special needs.

Join us at this year’s Buddy Walk at the Beach and on this journey. Your support is appreciated and instrumental to our vision.
