Elevating & Sustaining Original Live Music

http://www.thebugleboy.org Tax ID 26-3559311

After retrofitting a WW II Army barracks, The Bugle Boy listening room opened in January 2005 with the to mission is to elevate and sustain original live music.  Today the venue is hailed as one of the country's premier listening rooms.  From the friendly staff & volunteers, comfortable theatre seating and excellent acoustics, concert goers are sure to enjoy a wonderful evening of music.

Concerts are held on Friday & Saturday evenings where we present a wide range of independent professional touring artists that write and sing their own material. From well-known to up-and-coming performers, patrons can enjoy a wide range of musical styles including Folk, Blues, Rock, Soul, R&B, Jazz and more.  The Listening Room environment creates the best and most intimate experience that an artist can share with an attentive audience.

It’s like having a personal, live concert in your own living room where you even get to meet the artist!

Lifting Hearts and Spirits

As a lobby full of nursing home residents tap feet, keep time with their hands and sing along, the benefits of a live concert in a group setting cannot be overstated. The music helps dispel anxiety and alleviate a sense of loneliness and isolation.

The residents love to hear live music and these concerts provide an opportunity for them to interact with the musicians, request songs and some even sing though they may have trouble with ordinary conversation” - T.P., Schulenburg Regency

Meaningful Moments

As Ambassadors of Austin-based Swan Songs, we fulfill end of life musical wishes for patients in Hospice care.  These concerts are often a family’s final meaningful time together with their loved one.

This is such an awesome program, and I truly appreciate the time you give to ensuring - from receipt of the request to completion of the concert- that the listeners are honored in such a way. Thank you again for all you do. You’re a gift!!”- Barb G., Social Worker with Hospice S. Texas

Coming together, writing songs and playing guitar brings healing and camaraderie to many area Veterans & military personnel.  Workshops are hosted by professional songwriters where they teach both songwriting and guitar lessons.

I got my hand injured, and thought I would never even play guitar again, and then things started coming together, Suddenly I am meeting famous song writers, and they are saying that I can write. The VA repaired my hand, and now thanks to all this coming together, through God and Soldiers Songs I have written about forty songs, and performed a few live on stage.” -Rick Schultze, USA

Inspirational & Informative

From the Blues to Cowboy songs, area youth enjoy a variety of artist-led music programming.  Over the years, concerts for children & students have included activities such as singing along, composing and recording original songs, learning to play the harmonica, improv dancing & even "jam'n" with professional musicians.

"What a great way to end the summer programs at Schulenburg Public Library. The musicians were talented and funny! We loved the interactive Western program and the kids particularly enjoyed clapping along to the music!" -Caitlin Demel, Schulenburg, Texas
