THE STORY:

I'm a home renovator. My brother and I operate a company together, and I must say, I really enjoy what I do! Yet, over the last few years something has been brewing inside me. A new idea, and a new hope for the housing industry. It was in the spring time of 2015 when I came across a name, 'Elon Musk'. I realized that he was the CEO of two major companies in the U.S; Tesla Motors and SpaceX. I spent many hours during the month of April watching interviews and reading articles that he and others had written about the two company's products and innovations. After a month of absorbing hours and hours of information, I had a moment of reflection. I asked myself, 'what can I do to be an innovator in the field I'm working in'? That question had launched me into a driving momentum that I am still cruising on to this day.

And what was the innovative idea that blossomed in my brain?

Building homes with hempcrete.

It made so much sense to me. I have been working with building materials that came from oil industries, and the thought of contributing to these companies didn't sit well with me. The more I researched hempcrete and hemp itself the more excited I became. It's an incredibly versatile plant! From restoring radiated soil, absorbing CO2 emissions, to becoming an insulative building material that can revolutionize the housing industry! My passion became clear as I shared all I had learned about hempcrete with friends, family, and new individuals who showed up in my life. The more I followed that passion and excitement, the more I found myself sharing my desire for innovation.

Over the many months of perusing events and gatherings, I had finally met the individuals who would explore the pioneering venture of introducing hempcrete as a viable building material into the neighborhoods of Edmonton, Alberta.

These individuals, Eric Swanson, Chris Vallee, and Matt Burnett invited me to join their non-profit society called, Hemposphere. And with much excitement, I have been given the opportunity of initiating the first step of my dream – building a tiny hemp home.

Indeed, this campaign is the start and first step to obtaining funds, materials, and new friends, however, it also serves to usher in the usage of an innovative building material, and the motivation to be an innovator and pioneer.

What I truly want is to share this dream with others. It excites me most to dream a dream that others share, and to make new friends who can add their piece to the puzzle of co-creative innovation and community building. I see myself as a regular human who desires to help invigorate those around me to also inspire towards becoming and being an innovator. However! As humans we aren't just regular. Together we are unique and creative, and it's up to us to enliven our sense of adventure to show each other the incredible importance of innovation!

Fellow friends and future innovators, as I ask for your help to turn this campaign into a success story and reality, I also ask to offer my own hand in friendship and servitude to help inspire you to become an innovator. Let us together help Edmonton and Alberta move towards becoming a more sustainable home for ourselves and future generations. It all starts with one small step, and working together can make this step meaningful and impacting.

Many Thanks,

Zoran Glamoclija

My contribution to you:

This campaign isn't just about me and Hemposphere. It's really about you! I want to give back just as well, and reciprocate by offering my time and energy.

My intention with this campaign is to not only succeed in obtaining the funding needed to proceed with building a tiny hemp home, it's also to share how I found the excitement and courage to become an innovator.

Throughout the summer I'll be offering an information session on what it means to inspire towards becoming an innovator, and a workshop on hempcrete and it's practical use as a building material.

For those of you who are out of province and/or country, the information session and workshop will be available on video to watch any time! And of course they are free to attend/watch!

Dates for workshops will be posted ASAP!
