THE STORY:

Back to Natives Restoration connects the community to habitat restoration through service learning and native plant education. Back to Natives (BTN) has established a native plant nursery within Santiago Park Nature Reserve in Santa Ana. Volunteers from the community learn how to propagate and grow native plants, some of which are used in habitat restoration projects within the Reserve and throughout the County. BTN would like to build a barn structure at the Nursery, where staff can keep regular office hours and offer additional educational programs and volunteer opportunities to the community.

BTN’s Barn will become a resource for community members of all ages and backgrounds to learn and connect in a positive way with one another while doing something beneficial for the environment. Community members will be invited to participate in classes on topics related to the environment and living sustainably. BTN staff will provide workforce development training in native plant landscaping and habitat restoration.

The barn will also provide classroom space for the USFS Restoration Training Class, our Internship Program, etc. Please donate and help us grow!
