BENEFITING: FRIENDS OF CONSTRU CASA USA
As some of you already know, I’m currently travelling in Central America, to get closer to the local culture and visit the places I’ve been dreaming of since when I was a child: finally I will have the opportunity to climb up the endless stairs leading to the top of the Mayan pyramids and look like Rocky Balboa in Philadelphia! :D
Most of you know me as a crazy guy, doing crazy things and travelling around in the most extreme conditions, but now the time has come to do something meaningful: I’ve always had the dream of volunteering in developing countries and this journey gives me the chance to make it come true. Some of the countries in Central America are extremely poor: many families live below the poverty threshold and can’t afford to live in proper houses or to send their kids to school.
From the end of May I will be volunteering for Constru Casa, which is a non-profit organization set in La Antigua, Guatemala, offering basic housing to families living in extreme poverty: volunteers help the locals to build a proper house, which, together with the provision of additional programs of support, improves living conditions and enables better physical and mental health, as well as improved family, work and social life for the entire family. More info about Constru Casa can be found at http://www.construcasa.org.
This travel will allow me to get in touch with local people and help them directly to improve their living conditions. I’m asking all of you, friends, relatives, friends of friends, acquaintances, pets and everybody else to join me and help this non-profit organization by contributing to this fundraising campaign. All the money raised will be used to buy materials for the volunteering project I’m going to join. If you can’t make a donation, don’t worry! You can still help me spreading the voice about this fundraising! ;-)
Since we won’t have the chance to catch up during the next few months, you won’t be able to offer me a beer for a while… :D why not turn that offer into something more meaningful? Would you be willing to join me for a “virtual toast” and give a little donation to help people living in extreme poverty? If each one of us puts a small amount to contribute to this fundraising campaign, all together we will able to help consistently this non-profit organization to make a better living for poor people!
The time has come to take action! Your help and your support are fundamental for the success of this fundraising campaign and of my volunteering project! I know that you’re all awesome friends and that I can count on you!
