In Velanpudukulam near Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu (India), education is farfetched for the children living there, as there are no schools in and around and they have to travel a stretch of 2 kilometers to 7 kilometers to reach the nearest school from their village. There are no exclusive class rooms or proper toilet facility, but the 1800 square feet hall is sub-divided into 5 classrooms and one toilet which is used by teachers as well. Just to avoid urinary urgency during school timings, girls refrain from drinking water and remain thirsty from dawn to dusk. Having perceived this issue and its influence in increasing dropouts and absenteeism, constructing the school and establishing a friendly environment has become a necessity. The current project will help us to provide a quality education among the rural children in a friendly environment. The primary school will have learning and play materials to involve children in expanding their mental and physical horizons. The classrooms will be equipped with furniture like tables, chairs, benches, desks, whiteboards, and a computer system creating an atmosphere of educational environment. There will also be a spacious playground with playing materials for children to learn to play different games and sports. These activities that will become part of the academic education will improve the health and various skills of children providing them with good future.
