BENEFITING: BUILDING BRIDGES WORLDWIDE
ORGANIZER: BUILDING BRIDGES WORLDWIDE
I've chosen to run the NYC marathon in support of the 'Building Bridges' charity because they help poor communities around the world. The kind of communities I have encountered whilst traveling through South America and South East Asia. One day (my second career), I am going to get my hands dirty helping out. In the mean time ... I am pounding the pavement in the NY summer hoping you'll help me support them!
I am enrolled in the 2017 NYC marathon! How did that happen? There was a coach before there was a participant! Cindy (my coach) ran the NYC-marathon herself last year. This year she is determined on coaching me to run 42km. Do I need to say more? She got her way, and now there is a participant.
So now I am rolling out of bed 3 times a week for a tempo run, interval training and an ever longer run on the weekend. That's the easy bit, I will be fine with that (just hoping my Achilles' tendon will hold up). The part where I am way out of my comfort zone is the fundraiser! Those of you who know me well understand that asking for help drenches me with cold sweat, and I much rather prefer being soaked from running in the humid NY summer heat. But without your help I won't make it. Alors moi le loup, et vous ... les sous? (Translation: So me the chafing, and you the bucks?). And then we'll run those 42km together in November, together with those communities around the world who need that school building, or that orphanage. Thanks heaps for your support!
