BENEFITING: Legacy Youth Tennis And Education
Help inner city high school teens from Philadelphia, USA and Akko, Israel, come together to develop cultural understandings that will impact their futures both domestically and internationally.
For many of our program participants, Building Bridges, a cultural exchange between young tennis players at Legacy Youth Tennis and Education and Israel Tennis Centers, will represent their only chance to investigate, explore, experience and understand foreign cultures while travelling internationally.
Building Bridges grew out of an idea. The idea was that young tennis players from Legacy Youth Tennis and Education and Israel Tennis Centers needed to get to know one another to have a better understand themselves, the world, and how they impact it. They needed to learn about each other’s countries and cultures. They needed to learn about the history and language, the food and geography. They needed to share pictures, talk through live video chats, and begin their relationship online.
They also needed to spend time together. To see, live and fully experience what it’s like to live in another country, have another culture, live another lifestyle.
And that’s why we need your help! After six months of getting to know their pen pal's online, both the Philadelphia and Israel teams are ready to visit their peers this summer.
However, the team still needs to complete $4,000 in fund raising for airline tickets by June 1, 2015.
We hope you consider donating to our cause! Thank you so much for your consideration in helping connecting young people to build a bright future.
