With almost 200,000 in Livingstone, there is no single mental health facility in the entire region of Southern Zambia. Many mentally ill person's are condemned to their own fate, many of them walk the streets half naked, eat from rubbish dumps and dress in rugs....What is even more shocking is that people that have a high chance of recovery don't even an opportunity to be diagnosed and let alone given any kind of treatments because it is simply not there.
DEYOS-ZAMBIA, non profit organization in Zambia is working with the Livingstone General Hospital to establish a mental health clinic at the facility. The Hospital management has agreed to allocate land to this project. Please help me help the people that are mentally ill in Africa, Zambia.
