I started running Boston for buildOn in 2012, then again in 2013. I was half a mile away from the finish in 2013 when the bombs went off and never got to cross the finish line. The experience haunted me for a year, until I had the privilege to return to Boston in 2014 and cross the finish line once again.
I'm so grateful for the opportunity to run again in 2015 and raise funds for buildOn.
As the CFO of buildOn, I've seen firsthand how buildOn breaks the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education both here in the US and around the world. We've built over 600 schools in Africa, Asia and Central America and our high school students have contributed over 1.5 million hours of service in their communities!
I've met the children, parents and grandparents who have access to education, thanks to buildOn's work and the least I can do is run 26.2 miles.
If you'll help me achieve my fundraising goal of $4,000, we can build another school, giving hundreds more people the light that education brings!
