I finished!!!! ... Post Race recap and THANK YOU!
April 19, 2017
Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues,
I started with State Street Global Advisors in July of last year and in an effort to introduce my new firm to buildOn, I have dedicated myself to running the Boston Marathon on April 17th. This is a great cause (movement) that empowers high school students in disadvantaged inner cities of the US through after school service. Since 2011, Boston Public High School students have been constructing schools in developing countries with buildOn. Through this effort, volunteers galvanized enough local support to sustain full-scale service learning programs ... in Boston, they are located at the Community Academy of Science and Health and the Jeremiah E. Burke High School, both located in Dorchester.
I have been an active supporter of buildOn for its 25 years of great service to students in the US and developing world. There are many great causes, but it takes a community to create a movement ... to learn more please visit: www.buildon.org.
If you would like to track me on the 17th ... my bib number is #28880. I am strictly a charity, back of the pack runner, in this great race of elites. I expect to start running around 11:30am ET. The Boston Marathon website will open up an athlete tracking function on raceday.
Since December 1st, I have trained over 800 miles in preparation for this race ... figure 10 minutes on average per mile ... many 4:45am wake ups including a 18 mile run on a treadmill in Tokyo! Since many ask "what is your target?" ... all I have to say on the topic is that anything less than 4:40 will be a win as it will be a PR. In fact, to be injury free at this point is already a win! Thanks to my running coach Mike, trainer Jeff A. and colleague confidant Jeff P.
Hopefully this effort will allow everyone to be inspired and dig deep for this one, as my crowdrise goal is rather lofty.
Thanks for visiting this site.
