Bulldog for Lucas Clark
Organized by: Colin Raden
BEFORE READING PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS GOING TO BE A SURPRISE FOR LUCAS AND SHOULD BE TREATED WITH DISCRETION.
On March 16, 2014 Lucas Clark's younger brother Marcus sadly passed away. It has been an incredibly tough time for the Clark family, and as friends and supporters of Lucas we have initiated a fundraiser to purchase a bulldog for Lucas, something he has wanted for a very long time now and something he will continue to want until he makes it happen. His beloved bloodhound Lola also passed a few weeks prior to his brother.
A little bit about Marcus: Marcus (pictured right) was a young 19 years when he passed away. During the week following his death he was due to sign his enlistment papers at Parris Island, SC for the U.S. Marine Corps. Marcus was much like his brother in the sense that he was accepting of all people, regardless of appearance or internal beliefs. Upon receipt of the news of his death I distinctly remember the only thing I was able to repeat was "He was such a good kid." It's a very true statement. For being just 19, Marcus really was some kind of special.
This would be a very nice gesture for Lucas. I know this is something he would appreciate to the fullest extent for the rest of his life. If you have ever met Lucas then you know he is one of the kindest, most gracious, grateful individuals to walk this Earth. It will help take his mind off of the very recent death of his younger brother (I for one could not even begin to fathom), but more than that this is an opportunity for us all to show him just how much we care. I firmly believe that it is our duty to help Lucas during this tribulation that he unforuntately cannot escape, and show him that we are all here for him.
PLEASE KEEP THIS A SECRET!! Lucas does not know this is happening, nor will he know until about a month before we decide to make the purchase. It is important no one mention the fundrasier to him so we can surprise him with this a few months down the road when he has graduated from The Citadel and has his feet planted on the ground post-graduation.
All donations are welcome! It doesn't matter if it's $5 or $500, no donation will go unnoticed. Use this as an opportunity to reach out to Lucas, despite when the last time you may have spoken to him was. Let him know that you care and that you are a part of the support. All donators will be told when we are going to tell Lucas as to make sure all involved are fully included.
We as the individuals responsible for the startup of this fundrasier thank you so, so much in advance. On behalf of Lucas, and I'm sure for a lot of you personally speaking, it is very much appreciated.
