WE REACHED OUR INITIAL GOAL! As so many of you have asked to participate, and every little bit can help, let's keep on going!
To celebrate the birth of our second daughter, Alyaa Grace on March 22, 2014, we decided to raise funds for underprivileged children in Ratanakiri, Cambodia and to support the work of International Bridges to Justice.
In lieu of flowers and gifts for this beautiful day, we welcome donations in the name of our daughter, to support keeping the defender center open in Ratanakiri, Cambodia. This center provides legal representation for underprivileged children.
More information :
Many innocent kids in Ratanakiri, as young as 12, spent a decade or more in prison without trial. They had no access to counsel and were unaware of their rights. Now, kids are free from the torture of inhumane jail time thanks to the defender center in Ratanakiri which makes justice a reality there. Not just kids - now no one in the province endures gross miscarriage of justice thanks to one INTERNATIONAL BRIDGES TO JUSTICE lawyer, the only lawyer there! But that could all change. The center the lawyer runs is in danger of closing its doors this month. We are working feverishly to get long-term funding - if the center closes, this region will lose its lawyer, and inhumane treatment will return. Juveniles are especially at risk for spending their teen years in prison, where they are now free. Save these kids' lives, save the justice we've been able to make here, save Ratanakiri and keep Cambodia torture free!
