Tim Moran wrote -As many of you are aware, for the past three years, I have ridden 200 miles and done countless burpees with my colleagues during a Hoops for Heart activity at Lake Park High School to raise money and awareness of heart health, proper nutrition, and fitness for our students. Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $1500 for both Hoops for Heart and for Boxrat (an organization that helps suburban Chicago students participate in travel sports and area fitness clubs). Similar to last year, we want to provide an option for our students to be more active participants in the event and in the fundraising component. What we discovered from these events is that our students enjoy making donations if it means that they get to see Lake Park Staff members participate in uncomfortable activities. We are asking if you would be willing to participate in our Burpees for Boxrat fundraiser. Students will be asked to donate .50 per burpee. If you agree to participate, they will be raising money for the staff to complete burpees during the lunch periods on the day of Hoops for Heart. The proceeds will again be going to Boxrat to support youth fitness in our community. We have teamed up with area CrossFit boxes--CrossFit Roselle, CrossFit AlphaDog (Lombard), FTX CrossFit (Wheaton), and TriBalance Yoga (Schaumburg). They will be providing CrossFit coaches, yoga instructors, and elite CrossFit athletes to assist our students with a daily workout (WOD), proper lifting techniques, and mobility exercises for strength and flexibility. Boxrat will supply t-shirts and prizes for students that participate. More information can be found at www.boxratgear.com if you are interested. The staff will complete the required amount of burpees throughout the lunch periods on Valentine's Day, Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Any contributions are greatly appreciated, but if you could share this with friends, colleagues, or family that might be interested, that would be amazing. Thank you.
