The BNUEI journey to increase self-sufficiency through entrepreneurship is amazing. It can take an individual, a disadvantaged youth and an unemployable ex-offender to financial independence. The BNUEI Board of Directors is passionate about supporting the urban community and over the past three years 51 teens has completed the Teen Entrepreneur Series. The program doesn't only teach and inspire business savviness, but also personal development and sel-awarness is formed from our members.
LeFaith was 13 years old when she started attending the Teen Entrepreneur Series, due to her commitment and diligence to the program, at the age of 14 she was inspirted to write her first book entitle “Who Said Life Was Easy”. At the age of 18 she is a confident leader, entrepreneur, author and producer.
Jhair was 15 years old when he joined the BNUEI Advisory Board; he was a shy young man who had not participated at this level of program development before. With lots of encouragement, motivation and support Jhair’s confidence heightened and his self-esteem improved, he was now on a journey to assist BNUEI in shaping the future direction of the Teen Entrepreneur Series. By time he was a 17 and a student at the Boston Art Academy where he boldly implemented the Pieces 4 Peace, a Community Art Gallery and auctioned with over 40 pieces of art and raised over $3,000 for local community agency to support families of street crime.
Rayla, an 18 year old young lady question her ability to be an entrepreneur, stating that she had no talents and no gifts. When questioned on things that she liked do, knitting, she responded and immediately the team leaders was preparing her to sell her items at the next Teen Entrepreneur Certificate Celebration. Rayla was amazed to discover that there was a Market/customer s willing and ready to purchase the many knitted hats and scarfs that she had packed away in her closet. Rayla has now completed her first year of college, and is empowered with creative ideas on how to earn a stream of income that would assist in paying for additional schools supplies.
