BENEFITING: CHILD AND FAMILY OPPORTUNITIES INC
I, Rachel, will participate in the CFO walk-a-whatever-a-thon by pledging to do a 9-week boot camp to raise funds for CFO. I am doing this because I know a few things - 1) how vital it is to preserve high quality, affordable, safe, and did I say HIGH QUALITY early care and education, ESPECIALLY in a time when so many of us are busy working moms and dads. And 2) because this is also a great excuse for me to find a way to increase my exercise and get in shape so I can continue to be an active, involved, engaged and hopefully more healthy mom for my two awesome kids. And I never know when I just may need to sprint to save my children from a 7-foot tall ice-cream eating lobster. I need to keep my strength up. Or maybe just eat that ice cream after my run. I will deserve it if I manage to wrestle it away from that crustacean. And lastly, though really it is the most important one, 3) I know of no other group of people more deserving of support, high-fives, a whole lot of love, and some cold hard cash than the amazing educators both at CFO and all around the world. For goodness sake, hug a teacher today. And then go out and do something that will help them do their jobs better, and let them have a little less stress in doing it too. Becuase without all of them we are doomed. Truly.
Thanks for reading this!
Details: I will be trotting around outside the CFO offices every week (except June 17-20) but anyone, anywhere, is welcome to participate. I will post our weekly workout at the beginning of each week, and people can do it on their own or participate with me. Email me for details. PS. The nine weeks will go from 6/10 to 8/10 and end on the day of the St. Francis Fair in Blue Hill (another important early education fundraiser - be there or miss out on all the cool china and tools and books that support early education in Maine).
