Hi my name is Bonga Ngqobane from Khayelitsha one of the historically disadvantaged community with a crime and gang fight high rate. Personal message Bonga Ngqobane has created a sports and life skills programme in his home area of Site B in Khayelitsha, with the aim of helping youngsters like him to rise above the crime and crippling unemployment: “The aim is to get young people out of unproductive situations, which they face daily. We teach them about reaching their goals, making their lives easy and filled with possibilities. We seek to change bad attitudes to extremely positive ones. All of this is done through the sport of cycling,” said Nqgobane. The ambitious youngster has been a cyclist for years and has participated in major cycling competitions. With the help of his team, he has initiated and funded the Inter-School Cycling League (TAS ISCL). "We wanted to take on and uplift the sport of cycling in our communities and also introduce cycling in schools, find the great talents and develop potential riders amongst the schools.” The Bonga Cycling Academy wants to uplift youth and the sport of cycling in disadvantaged areas and needs help to purchase bicycles for 10 students. These students will be selected during the Interschool School Cycling League to ensure fair and accountable distribution of the bycycles. Each entry-level mountain bike costs about $500 00 Buying a bike for one child is equivalent to changing one life from being vulnerable from social ills. Please consider making any contribution you can- it will buy more than a bike; it may also buy an opportunity for a school child. For more about the Bonga Cycling Academy, see their website here. Thank you.
