EVENT DATE: Jan 09, 2015
So much of who I am came from Camp Little Notch. To me it was always a magical forest. I started camping there when I was 7. I also worked as staff when I grew up. As a child, I loved walking over the floating bridge to the soft pine trails that led to the boat dock. I learned to canoe at Little Notch. I learned the names of many of the trees and plants in the forest. I learned songs and stories. I played Pooh sticks and ate graham crakers with peanut butter and honey. I always loved rafters, that is where arts and craft were done, it is the Imaginiation Station now. many of the things I do with my groups of kids now, God's eyes, leather working, sandcandles, sunprints are just things I learned at camp. Dorothy Gruessner, Dottio was the camp nurse, she was the first person to teach me about using plants as medicine.
As an adult, I realized the impact we had to create memories for girls. My favortie kids were the inner city kids that came on scholarships. Kids that had never been out of the City before, didn't have the right shoes or half the supplies they really should have brought but we always made it work. Still, when I walk the paths at Little Notch, I hear their laughter. Little Notch needs to have girls of all ages walking the paths and laughing. Please donate to my Crowdrise fundraiser- Help us ensure that this forest that has raised so many nice people continues on her tradition.
