Buy Some Good
Organized by: Michael Droege
We have much of the infrastructure and plan in place to launch this exciting new option for fighting global poverty and closing the economic gap that so many face.
Charity is good, but not the best thing we can do to address the needs of poverty. People dependent on charity only have access to the percentage of wealth that people of means are willing to part with. This creates a continued cycle of dependency and maintains the economic gap. In this system, people have very little means of moving themselves out of poverty. What people need is access to a competitive marketplace. Large corporations have largely boxed out the small craftsperson or grower because high volume means lower prices - getting more "stuff" in the hands of consumers.
What we are proposing is to create an online presence that is more than buying tribal gifts or coffee. We are inviting people to put their product on our "shelves", let us introduce and market that product, and invite consumers to consider participating in an economic exchange that truly does good in the world. People can shop at Buy Some Good with the full confidence that their purchase doesn't just end up as a drop in some corporations bottom line, but that it truly puts food on the table for someone working hard to make a living fairly.
We are looking to raise $10,000 to hire in our community, to build the website, find participants, market our site, and create systems for successful interaction with consumers.
We want to change the world and feel this is the best way to do it.
