BENEFITING: HAND IN HAND FARM
EVENT DATE: Sep 15, 2013
Our horses, mules, and donkeys help kids by motivating them to work hard and follow directions. Each year, the animals consume a few tons of grain in addition to hay and pasture. Then there's the cost of fuel to make several trips to the feed store (we can't store more than a few week's worth of grain) and the fees associated with using this utility. A local feed store puts on a fall feed sale that lets us prepay for as much grain as we think we'll use in a year, locking in a price. Last year, that saved us about 20% when the feed prices went up.
The grain cost per year for a draft-sized animal is $309, $206 for a full-sized horse, and $52 for a miniature horse.
Donations can be made offline by sending a check to Hand In Hand Farm, 35105 Ede Road, Lebanon, OR 97355. They will still count toward this fundraising goal and not incur the processing fees that paying by credit card would.
