On Sunday, June 25, hundreds of teammates will join together to run the 2017 Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) 10K road race to support Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital (BWFH).
BWH/BWFH cares for patients from New England, throughout the United States, and from 120 countries around the world. Every day, BWH/BWFH clinicians, researchers, and caregivers work to find new ways to predict, prevent, and treat the most challenging diseases of our time while delivering world-class care with a profoundly human touch. Our team is proud to run in support of this world-class hospital that is fueling quality patient care, innovative training, and life-changing discoveries that will benefit patients here in Boston and around the world.
Our team is running in support of the BWFH Breast Care Program to help patients with breast cancer better manage their diagnosis and treatment. Specificaly, the funds raised help support:
Jacki program – post surgical patients with Lymphedema are given Jackis, a sort of jacket that helps reduce swelling
Navigator program – patients receive personal appointments and unlimited phone support from a Nurse Practitioner and Social Worker, who walk them through their treatment and recovery journey
Seed grants for Breast Cancer research projects – supporting surgeons studying everything from patient outcomes to quality of life
Resource support for patients in need – parking vouchers, travel assistance and other support for people whose treatment and multiple appointments prove to be a severe financial burden.
Thanks in advance for your support and encouragement!
