BENEFITING: THE NEIGHBORHOOD ENRICHMENT PROJECT INC.
The 2012-2013 school year has begun and we are excited to kick off another year of The Bridge Youth Leadership Movement (BYLM). We are extremely excited to announce that this school year NEP is teaming up with The City of East Point Parks and Recreation department to conduct the BYLM at The Jefferson Park Recreation Center 5 days a week after school.
This collaboration will allow us to combine our resources and make an even greater impact in the lives of the youth we serve. The BYLM is transitioning from operating one day a week (at 3 schools) to now operating at one location five days a week. That means we will have five times the impact this year!
With a focus on assisting our youth with the development of healthy Social and Emotional skills the BYLM 2012-2013 will include:
Art, Music, & Drama
Basketball, Tennis, Archery, and other Physical Activities
Inspirational Movie Day
Career Day Guest Speakers
Community Service Projects
Field Trips and Special Events
We Need Your Help
Operating the program five days a week is a tremendous opportunity to further impact and inspire our youth to become leaders who will pursue their goals for success. It also means that we will have much higher expenses. The largest expense will be the development of a scholarship fund that will allow 10 students to attend the after school program at no cost.
The City of East Point’s Jefferson Park Recreation Center charges parents a fee of $25/week for East Point residents and $40/week for non-residents. This fee goes towards daily transportation from school to the center, snacks, supplies, staffing, and facility usage.
Some of our low-income parents of younger students can apply for CAPS, an after school child care assistance program. However our low-income students who are above the age of 13 do not qualify. We do not want to lose the gains that we’ve made with these students and with your help that will not happen.
The goal for our most ambitious fundraising campaign to date is $10,000. This will allow us to provide 10 scholarships and provide us with additional funds for supplies for our youth.
$100 sponsors a child for one month
$200 sponsors a child for two months
$ 400 sponsors a child for four months
$ 900 sponsors a child for the school year
(Examples are based on the $25/weekly cost for the entire school year. For every $1000 raised $900 goes towards paying a child’s cost to East Point Parks and Rec for the school year and $100 goes towards program supplies and resources for the child.)
