Dear Friends and Family,
Connie and I are volunteering to help organize and fundraise for No Barriers: Challenge Seattle. This event will be an exciting 2 days of inspiration and opportunity. No Barriers USA (headquartered in Fort Collins, CO), which is hosting its first event ever in Seattle is reaching out to cities and communities nationwide to further their life changing work and to provide transformative experiences that empower people of all abilities to embrace a "no barriers" mindset and discover the potential that lies within themselves and the world.
On Friday, August 28, No Barriers: Challenge Seattle will be sponsoring a kickoff evening at GALVANIZE in Pioneer Square at 111 S Jackson St. Seattle WA • (206) 886-0556. Friday evening will provide an opportunity for us to learn about the No Barriers philosophy and will come to life with personal accounts from several individuals who have lived the No Barriers Life such as Lonnie Bedwell, a blind Navy veteran, who last summer kayaked down the Colorado RIver over 270 miles. Friday night will also host presentations from local individuals who have overcome their own life challenges and who embody the No Barriers belief that while life brings its challenges, none cannot be moved beyond in both body and spirit. Please sign up for this free Friday night event by RSVPing at http://getinvolved.nobarriersusa.org/challenge_seattle
The second day, Saturday, August 29th will be a fabulous paddle boarding and kayaking event to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. People of all ages and abilities will get out and paddle at Lake Sammamish State Park, with lawn games and other activities available for a fun afternoon in the sun. Registration is required on their website and for $100 you may reserve your paddle board or kayak. Don’t miss this opportunity to elevate your spirit and support No Barriers’ programs for warriors, youth and people with disabilities!
If you cannot attend, sharing this site with others who may be interested would be awesome and of course, any financial contribution would be appreciated in furthering the goals of this fabulous nonprofit organization. Many thanks and we both hope to either see you at the event or learn that you are in support of the goals of this fine organization that supports our wounded warriors, our citizens who are challenged by any life event or disability, not to mention youth in our communities who have aspirations to succeed and who make good choices and only need a financial push to knead them in the positive direction they already aspire towards. Any support you can give will be used for the benefit of many.
