I am running the 2012 Boston Marathon for Cradles to Crayons (C2C). I was first introduced to C2C, when I went to the Giving Factory in Brighton for a volunteer visit with my colleagues from Eastern Bank. As a father, I was particularly struck by the number of children experiencing homelessness and poverty in my on community. I was shocked to learn that these kids did not have simple essentials such as a winter coat, pair of shoes, a hat and a pair of gloves.
My profile picture shows four best friends, wearing snow pants they received from Cradles to Crayons. All four boys, attend a Charter School serving some of Boston’s most vulnerable students. According to their teacher, “while we have had little snow this season, with all the mud the snow pants have been LIFESAVING for recess time! No wet bums and lots of happy kids getting to be active each day-amazing”.
So, in honor of these four best friends and the 305,000 kids ages 0-12 living in poverty in Massachusetts, I am running the Boston Marathon to support Cradles to Crayons and the amazing work they do. 26.2 miles, culminating in the City in which these boys live. It is not about the time it will take to cross the finish line, but about how my efforts will ensure that these best friends are safe, warm, and have the essentials they need to thrive. I ask that you make a donation to support these efforts. Thank you in advance.
