BENEFITING: CHILDRENS ASSESSMENT CENTER
ORGANIZER: CHILDRENS ASSESSMENT CENTER
Every day at the Children’s Assessment Center (CAC) we work with children who have been sexually abused, often by people they love and trust. And unfortunately, many of these children were unaware that this abuse was not okay, was not their fault, and how to tell a safe adult about what was going on. That’s where KIDZ Have Rights comes in.
KIDZ Have Rights is the prevention program of the CAC, and in the 2012-2013 school year over 15,000 Pre-K through 4th grade students in Kent County heard the message that they have the right to be safe and respected. For many of these students, the information they learn will prevent sexual abuse. But for some, this presentation will give them the courage they need to talk to a safe adult.
By donating to the CAC, you have the chance to put these essential tools into the hands of children. Just $10 gives one child the opportunity to learn that they have the right to say no, to not be scared, to feel safe and important, to express their feelings, to be listened to, to not be touched on the private parts of their body, and to tell and be believed.
So, why is our goal $74,409? Since KIDZ Have Rights started in 2004, that’s how many children have been educated on body safety. At just $10 to provide one child with this information, imagine how many more children could hear this important message with your donation.
